For me it was just OK I was a little surprised to see that Leroy Neiman
did not make this chapter I am a big fan of his and I am doing my artist report
on him two of the really big artist of this time were Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol
to very different styles but both very big for this time period as a matter of fact
Neiman work reminds me a little of Pollock the way the colors all swirl about the
paintings and I found Warhol to be a little strange but that is just me. For my
artist to compare this chapter I choose Mark Rothko and his work Orange and Yellow
done in 1956
to Helen Frankenthalers Spring Bank 1974
I was not really fond of either of these pieces I found both to be pretty boring
and lacking any depth pretty basic I am not sure what the artists are trying to
say with these pieces if anything at all. not my cup of tea but to each his own.
my next 2 are Kerry James Marshal's Past Times 1997 and Eric Fischl's Barbeque 1982
I did enjoy Fischl's painting a lot I like how there were lots of things going on
in it but it did not come off as too busy which is what I thought about Marshal's
work I also did not enjoy the colors of Past Times they just did not work for me.
