The 4 types of literacy

Tuesday's nights lecture was on the 4 types of literacy text literacy,

visual literacy,network literacy and the one Glenn made up educational literacy

what I think Glenn was saying was education needs to keep up with the changes are

our education system as we know it is bound to fail I have to say that I agree

strongly with Glenn on this one is does not make much sense that our children are

computer literate by the time they start school yet we teach them the same way as

we always have with a teacher up in front of them getting them to remember facts

not learning in a active style that computer based learning can give I am not

saying get rid of the teacher I am sure neither was Glenn but by all means throw

in some computer interaction type things to help them learn. We also saw some

clips from a movie called The Reader which was about a woman who would rather plead

guilty to a murder charge then to let everyone know that she could not read or

write Glenn said the coolest thing about this movie is it had no hero's only

victims which makes it different then all other movies I plan on renting it because

what I saw of the movie I found interesting. We also talked about how the goverment

killed wikileaks and how the recording industry killed napster both out of fear.

my 2 favorite quotes of Glenn this week were law has nothing to do with the truth

and media creates values(sex sells). All in all a very cool week, thank you
