Chapter 13 Architecture

before this I never really considered Architecture to be art just goes to show

how little I know about art some of these structures are truly mind blowing in their

style and beauty and lets not forget one of the most important things when it comes

to Architecture function I mean it does matter how beautiful a structure is it must

stand secure or what good is it. with all types of construction styles from

load- bearing to post and lintel all the way to dome styles each very interesting in

their own rite but by far my favorite is post lintel style used a lot by East Asians

to build such beautiful things like the Hoodo(Phoenix Hall) on page 315 this

building is so breath taking it has to be art. instead of artist for this chapter

I will be comparing buildings 1st the Taj Mahal it is a great example of dome style

with pointed arch and vault thrown in I am comparing it to the Pantheon.Rome both

are great dome structures I think the Taj Mahal is much more beautiful and pleasing

to the eye the differance between the 2 are the Pantheon mixes dome style with

post and lintel and the Taj Mahal mixes dome with arch and vault. the next 2 are

Kallikrates. Temple of Athena which is Post- and-Lintel to Point du Gard'Nimes

which is Round Arch and Vault both of theses works seem to me to be pretty basic

work with little to no flare to speak of but what they lack in flare their make up

for with function I guess the major differance would be the Point du Gard is a

multi-level structure as where the temple is not. all in all I found out some new

in this chapter a building truly can be some of the best art work out there.
