Craft and Art originally shared the same meaning and I can see why I found some of
these crafts to be truly breath taking from works made from clay to very beautiful
Tapestry's all the way to works from Metal and Wood I found them all to be amazing
in their own rite. With all the different styles to choose from it was very hard to
come up with my 2 sets of artists to compare but I did so here goes 1st pick was
Susan Ewing's Winged pitcher and sugar container 1991 made from Sterling silver and
24K vermeil with beautiful inlay work and very cool lines and it very different
shape it to me would compare to any of the sculpture's from the last chapter I
really liked this work a lot. I compared it to Filippo and Francesco's Burgonet of
of Charles made in 1545 and made from Steel and Gold this piece also had great
inlay work and beautiful lines with such deep detail though out the entire work
far more detail then the other piece both works had great lines and mixtures of
metals but it is in the details that these two works differ I really enjoyed both
of them but if I had to pick just one it would be the second one because of it's
amazing detail. Next was Maria and Julian Martinez's Jar c. 1939 to Magdalene
Odundo's Vessel 2000 both are interesting to look at but I must say this pick was
very easy for me I enjoyed the Jar c. much more then the Vessel piece it was more
pleasing to the eye with great inlay work and with a wonderful shape what I did
enjoy from the Vessel was it's rare feel it had it just was so interesting to me.
so what I learned this chapter was art is also in our every day life things such as
a chair or a rug can be and is sometimes great art.
