Another very interesting class on Tuesday starting out with clips from the movie
Razors edge starring one of my favorite actors Bill Murray as a person named Larry
who without question choose the road less traveled in life with a nice job lined
up to be a stock broker he choose to do odd jobs to make a living while all the
time looking for some meaning out of his life it made me think would I take the
road less traveled like Larry or go the easier route that also leads to more money
I am a little sad to say I would take the road more traveled what does that say
about me? who knows I sure don't. We also talked a lot about Marina Abramovic she
is a performance artist I found her work to be a little twisted for my taste but
she does get people talking and I think that is a good thing love her or hate her
everyone in the class had something to say which always make class more
interesting for me. Another thing I found interesting is two things Glenn said 1st
was Art is about power it not if your Art sells it is who buys it! I never thought
of Art that way but now that I think about it is 100% true sad but true. 2nd was
very cool he said Art brings questions but no answer pretty deep but I get it.
on to Chapter 4 Visual Elements this was my favorite chapter yet I knew Art was
more than meets the eye but learning about direction and movement and also shapes
and mass made me take a second look at some of the works in this book and I enjoyed
them even more than I did before which I think is pretty cool. so all in all a
very interesting week one question though with Abramovic why was Russia potatoes
and USA onions? I have no clue
