Another very interesting class on Tuesday starting out with clips from the movie
Razors edge starring one of my favorite actors Bill Murray as a person named Larry
who without question choose the road less traveled in life with a nice job lined
up to be a stock broker he choose to do odd jobs to make a living while all the
time looking for some meaning out of his life it made me think would I take the
road less traveled like Larry or go the easier route that also leads to more money
I am a little sad to say I would take the road more traveled what does that say
about me? who knows I sure don't. We also talked a lot about Marina Abramovic she
is a performance artist I found her work to be a little twisted for my taste but
she does get people talking and I think that is a good thing love her or hate her
everyone in the class had something to say which always make class more
interesting for me. Another thing I found interesting is two things Glenn said 1st
was Art is about power it not if your Art sells it is who buys it! I never thought
of Art that way but now that I think about it is 100% true sad but true. 2nd was
very cool he said Art brings questions but no answer pretty deep but I get it.
on to Chapter 4 Visual Elements this was my favorite chapter yet I knew Art was
more than meets the eye but learning about direction and movement and also shapes
and mass made me take a second look at some of the works in this book and I enjoyed
them even more than I did before which I think is pretty cool. so all in all a
very interesting week one question though with Abramovic why was Russia potatoes
and USA onions? I have no clue

Food,Fun and Chapter3
Well I had a great time in class on Tuesday the food was great and whoever made
the homemade cookies did a great job. I also got to make my first ever video blog with help from Glenn even though my video sucked it was fun to make and I am sure that I will make more video blogs in the up coming weeks. I really liked all the different types of art in this chapter from the Great Pyramids to paintings to statues I loved them all. for my picks to compare this week I went with Meta Warrick Fullers talking skulls 1937 too Equestrian statue of Marcus first off the maor differencs would be size Marcus is large and Talking Skulls is small yet both are beautifully done with great detail and are very pleasing to the eye I really enjoyed both of these works of art. on to the next two Georges Securat's Bathers at Asnieres 1883 compared to Robert Rauschenberg's Winward 1963 both use beatiful pastel colors with what seems to me to be normal colors I might wrong on that but that is how I see it with all they have in common I think the major differance for me was Securat's work was on one subject the bathers as where Rauschenbergs's work was all over the place not just one thing out of the two I liked bathers more

chapter two
It was nice to see not just the rich are art collector's even us poor folk can collect and display works of art that we find to have true beauty and value it's like I always say beauty and art are in the eye's and hearts of the beholder.I think I choose two very interesting pairs of artists to compare this week. first off I compared Vasily Kandinsky,s Composition IX with Rebecca Purdum's Chin UP. both are very beautiful mixes of different colors and shapes coming together to form one very beautiful work of art I am not really sure where the paintings are going but I love where they end up. Kandinsky's work is much more focused than is Purdum's but both blend colors so wonderfully you can't help but love the work. my next two to compare are Henri Matisse's Piano lesson to Pablo Picasso's seated woman holding fan both use wierd shapes and forms to come up with these painting I must say that I am not really a fan of these two artists but millions of others love these two artists and their works of art. I think that Picasso's painting seems a bit scary as where Matisse's painting semms a bit lighter

What is Reality
I must say I loved class on Tuesday what a great question what is reality? it seem each person in class had a different answer which I found very interesting to hear what they thought was reality even if it was different then my answer. you see I believe there is no one right answer to that question and if there is who's to say which one of the many different answers was correct. I believe the same goes for art works some pieces of art are considered masterpieces yet to some the same piece might not even be considered art at all you see reality and art I believe is in the eye of the beholder what I person see's as real might not seem the same to another person like when there is a car crash and two different people see the same crash at the same time the way they say the crash happen might be totally different from one another both telling the truth as they saw it be still having two different views on how the crash happen same crash two different reality's the same could be said for art one mans treasure is another mans trash. like I said in the beginning what a great question.

Chapter One Art Analysis
I found chapter one to be very interesting with that said lets hope I got the assignment right. My first two artists to compare are Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet for this I compared Van Gogh's Wheat Field and Cypress Trees to Monet's Fisherman's Cottage on the Cliffs at Varengeville. Both are a nature scene and both artists to me seem they are trying to paint the scene out of focus with a swirling style. where I found them to be different is van Gogh seems to me to be much darker. Although I love both artist's I would have to say I like van Gogh just a little more.
My next two are Juan de Valdes leal and Audrey Flack and for this I compared Leal's Vanitas to Flacks Wheel of Fortune. to me both are very busy paintings with a lot going on you know a lot of things coming together as one. I must tell you I really enjoyed both of these works of art but with all they have in common they are two totally different works of art coming from two different era's Flack uses very bright colors as where Leal uses more natural colors. To me you can see a lot of Leal in Flacks work like I said different yet the same and I really enjoyed both works of art.

3 million years of art in 150 minutes
First off let me say I loved Tuesday's lecture not only for the cool art we got to see but also for what I found to be great thought provoking questions . I got the biggest kick and most out of these two questions the first one being is it just a pebble or is it art? For me the question was easy when it came to the little pebble that looked as if it had a face I believe there is no question that it is art just because it was not man made I still think of it as art I found it to be totally cool and worth viewing I guess someone from 3 million years ago thought so to since it was found miles and miles from where it was made. But then again some people in the class believe it not to be art since it was not man made and was from from years and years of water flowing though the pebble making it just a cool looking rock. What I found funny about this question was both answers where right totally different both still both right, makes you think huh? And I believe that what art should do make you both feel and think. My second question I loved was can something become so big it no longer exists? To tell you the truth that question has stuck with me all week and I still have no answers the examples Glen used were two great ones the Mona Lisa and the Beatles both huge in their in they own rites.
